Crataegus Rosea Flore Pleno
Crataegus Rosea Flore Pleno Hawthorn, is a small to medium sized UK native tree, suitable for most gardens and any soil which makes it a great garden specimen. Its blooms both have a double row of petals, like miniature roses, with a light, bright shade of pink. The glorious mass of blossoms comes in late spring, filling the air around the tree with their distinctive scent and the butterflies that turn up for a snack. In autumn, the attractive, small red fruits that develop are a good source of early winter food for birds to fatten up on. You can also pick them for use in hedgerow jam. Crataegus Rosea Flore Pleno can reach a height of about 10 metres.
his tree is the parent of the popular red flowering Hawthorn variety, Paul's Scarlet. It was cultivated in the 1830's and has been used in parks and stately gardens ever since. In 2002, it was given the RHS's Award of Garden Merit for being both beautiful and easy for anyone to grow in their garden.
